And Superintendent Jo Ellen Divoll's answer is so vague, we still don't know why she was put on leave in the first place.
"It is my responsibility to ensure the integrity and safety of our high school," said Divoll. "This required a short administrative leave in order to investigate complaints and ongoing concerns, and create a plan to address them. This has been done."
When I mentioned this to my husband, he said he was sick of having the town take his tax money and not have an explanation of what happened. Especially since all this answer is going to do is fuel more rumors about what happened.
If they are going to put her back in her position, wouldn't it be a good idea to have the facts out there on what happened instead of people speculating and making stuff up?
While it would be nice to know why the principal was on administrative leave, why do the Franklin residents have so little faith in the administration and school board to make the right decision and do what is best for the children of Franklin & Hill? Students deal directly with their teachers on a day to day basis and will continue to do so. Having the principal out on leave has minimal effect on the students except when the parents make more out of it than necessary. If there was any possible danger to the students I have every confidence that the school board and administration would make the necessary steps and announcements. Every member of the school board is a regular citizen/resident like you and me. Some have children in the school district. I can think of many scenarios why reasons would not be announced, for example medical or family tragedy or personal issues like divorce. Nobody would want their personal business made public and we shouldn't hold the principal to a different standard unless the children were negatively effected or in danger. From the superintendent’s comments they needed to investigate complaints and ongoing concerns. The complaints may be unfounded and shouldn't be released unless verified. She also mentioned a plan was created to address them. Why isn't that acceptable to everyone? Why doesn't the public trust the people they elected and trust the personnel the elected officials hired to perform their duties, which they are qualified and certified to do? Why do residents always seem to think the worse when there is an unknown instead of thinking the best that it is being taken care of properly? It saddens me to read all the negative comments based on nothing but rumors. Perhaps if those that always seems to think the worse would just try to get to know one or two school board members outside of the school board meetings they would develop a little more trust in their ability to do what is right for their children.
